The CSI Boston Chapter Board of Directors conducts a virtual meeting monthly from September to June on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 4:15 pm – 5:15 pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please email [email protected] to request a meeting link.
CSI Boston Programming Meetings
The CSI Boston Chapter meets monthly from September to June. Meetings are held at the UMass Club on the 32nd Floor of One Beacon Street in Boston, except in December and June when we hold a social event. Our chapter meeting at the UMass Club includes:
- Networking time with tabletops from our sponsors, appetizers, and a cash bar
- Sit-down, buffet-style hot dinner prepared by the UMass Club
- Presentation by a speaker
Typical CSI meeting attendees and members are building and construction professionals including architects, engineers, manufacturer technical representatives, contractors, and students.
Limited parking available in 1 Beacon Street Parking Garage (entrance on Cambridge Street). Discounted pricing applies if parking after 4:00 pm.

Specifications and drawings are two halves of one promise: drawings show how a building goes together, while specifications define what “acceptable” means, including performance, evidence, and accountability. Yet many teams still manage requirements in a workflow separate from daily design and documentation, which creates drift: mismatched product references, inconsistent performance values, and late-phase cleanup. This session introduces a higher-level model for living requirements, where product decisions, performance targets, and verification criteria stay connected to design intent as it evolves. We’ll explore what changes when the specification process and management operate within the design canvas, and why the next step beyond product search is to coordinate decisions at the assembly and interface levels to reduce contradictions and rework.
Learning objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Explain why drawing–spec drift occurs when requirements are managed outside daily design/documentation workflows.
2. Describe the concept of living requirements and how it improves coordination under constant project change.
3. Identify the minimum set of requirement “anchors” (product decision, performance criteria, verification evidence) that must stay synchronized across documentation.
4. Distinguish product discovery from assembly/interface-level coordination and explain why the latter is critical to reducing mismatches and rework.
5. Outline a future-facing workflow principle: manage requirements in-context within the design canvas so updates propagate as design evolves.
Presenters
Youngjin Lee, AIA, LEED AP, is Co-founder & CEO of D.TO. With 25+ years of experience in architectural practice, he explores the intersections of design practice and emerging technologies. He holds a Master of Architecture from Yale University.
Juhun Lee, Co-founder & CTO, has 15+ years in AEC software development, building intelligent, cloud-native platforms that automate and optimize design workflows with AI for the built environment. He holds an M.Des. from Harvard University.
Taylor Logan is an Implementation & Adoption Lead with 10+ years in partnership development, focused on enterprise SaaS adoption and workflow coordination. He earned his B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin, specializing in consulting and change management
